Preparation
Diagnosis of the disease includes consultation with a maxillofacial surgeon, otolaryngologist, speech therapist to identify anatomical and other functional defects of the articulatory apparatus and the degree of impairment.
Correction of rhinolalia
Treatment may surgical, physiotherapeutic, orthodontic treatment, as well as psychotherapy and speech therapy are carried out.
In organic forms of the disease, the elimination of anatomical defects is prescribed:
- surgical correction of existing facial deformities;
- manufacturing of a pharyngeal obturator;
- polypotomy of the nose;
- adenotomy;
- removal of neoplasms of the pharynx;
- septoplasty.
The main role in treatment belongs to psychotherapy and physiotherapy. Medical intervention is always supplemented by special differentiated speech therapy work.
Speech therapy correction of rhinolalia is carried out before surgery and in the postoperative period. Before the surgery, special articulation and breathing exercises, speech therapy massage are prescribed. At this stage, it is necessary to work on the automation and production of all available sounds, as well as develop the flexibility and strength of the voice, expand the vocabulary, develop phonemic hearing and auditory attention.
The main goal of postoperative work is to consolidate all the achieved skills, but in new anatomical conditions. Massage of all postoperative scars, development of differentiated nasal and oral exhalation, elimination of nasal vocal shade, correction of pronunciation and elimination of all gaps in phrasal speech and lexical and grammatical structure are performed.

Special rehabilitation is not required.
