  • congenital or acquired vellus;
  • congenital or acquired limited;

  • neoid;
  • symptomatic;
  • iatrogenic.

Also distinguished:

  • local hypertrichosis - hair grows in a certain area);
  • general - total hairiness of the whole body, mainly an inherited deviation (when the embryonic hair is not replaced by vellus hair as normal, but continues to grow, sometimes reaching 10 cm in length).

Causes

The causes of the disease are usually are hidden in hereditary changes, during which the structure of epithelial cells changes, changing into epidermal ones. The transformation can be caused by improper pregnancy, infections that occur in the first trimester. This determines the gene mutation.

The most common is considered to be the genetically inherited category. Innovative research proves that the symptoms are expressed in the process of awakening of hair follicles. There are cases when increased hairiness occurs several years before the oncology. The manifestation of the defect can be caused by taking medications from the category of penicillins, cephalosporins, psoralens, corticosteroids, which provoke pathology in the form of side effects.

Symptoms

The disease manifests itself from birth, has a recognizable clinical picture: the appearance of hair in areas not prone to hairiness.

In women, the defect progresses on the face, chest, limbs, genitals. In men, excessive growth is observed on the back and shoulders.

The malaise is accompanied by neurological signs: weakness in the legs, loss of sensitivity. Excessive hair growth can spread to the eyebrows.

Diagnostics

For a correct diagnosis, it is necessary to first eliminate the hormonal origin of the pathology and hirsutism. In addition to an examination by a dermatologist, professional consultations with a gynecologist and endocrinologist are required. A biochemical blood test is mandatory in determining the diagnosis.

As a result of all studies, an individual treatment method is developed, which must be carried out in a timely manner. The specialist conducts a personal visual examination and determines in detail the anamnesis of the pathology. Instrumental diagnostic methods are not required.

Treatment

To cure the defect, it is necessary to find out and eliminate its cause. In case of failure of the endocrine glands, therapy should be carried out by an endocrinologist. The congenital form is incurable. If hormonal changes are not detected, then treatment should be aimed at getting rid of excess hair. Self-removal of hair is unacceptable, as this leads to their increased growth.

A modern effective method of therapy is electrical epilation. Depending on the patient's susceptibility to this procedure, one session can remove from one clump of hair to several dozen. The procedures are repeated until the hair is completely removed. In case of increased sensitivity of the patient, local anesthesia is used. Also, the hair is bleached with the help of preparations that include hydrogen peroxide.

Prevention

Preventive actions should be taken even during the period of bearing a child, when the fetus is just forming. The mother of the child should not lift weights, drink alcohol and nicotine during pregnancy. It is necessary to often be in the fresh air and be monitored by an experienced doctor. It is necessary to approach the intake of medications during pregnancy with extreme caution.

Prevention includes regular examination by an endocrinologist and, as necessary, undergoing examinations and tests. Patients with this diagnosis are contraindicated in chemical and mechanical skin irritations. In addition, massage procedures, paraffin masks and all kinds of skin peeling methods should be avoided. You should also protect yourself from the use of nutritional products.

At the first signs of illness, it is important to consult a specialist in time.
